Book Review: Wolf by Mo Hayder

The only difference between a wolf and dog is that a dog is trained not to try to kill you.

I believe, from what I can hear, that either my daughter or my wife has just been attacked. I don't know the outcome. The house is silent.

Fourteen years ago two teenage lovers were brutally murdered in a patch of remote woodland. The prime suspect confessed to the crimes and was imprisoned.

Now, one family is still trying to put the memory of the killings behind them. But at their isolated hilltop house . . . the nightmare is about to return.

The characters were bit cliché. The DI Jack Caffery was bit stereotypical with his lonely life and trying to quit smoking. I also did give a ratsarse about the family and anything could have happen, wouldn’t have given a damn. They weren’t very sympathetic characters and I suppose flat.

It took me a while to get into this book. The first hundred pages or so are really slow. The pace did pick up. The solution was a bit so what. I guess it was logical. I want to say I saw it coming but I can’t as I got bored and looked at the end.

Overall, I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars for acid burns. It was alright, I guess I was feeling rather lacklustre in general. It might be better if I was in a better mood. It was what it was.

I got this off Netgalley for a review. It’s being published by Bantam Press on 22rd April 2014.

Book Review: Confessions of an Almost Girlfriend by Louise Rozett

This a sequel, why don't they ever make that clear on Netgalley?

If you’re not true to yourself, why should anyone else be?
In her second year of high school Rose Zarelli is determined to become Rose 2.0 - as in, innovative...superior...improved.
Improved how? Well, Rose is setting some ground rules. This year she absolutely most definitely will NOT:
1) do things just because other people want her to
2) randomly shoot her mouth off
3) worry about whether she’s someone’s girlfriend—or not.
And most important of all she determined to tell off Jamie Forta, the boy who might just have broken her heart, once and for all and move on.
After all she’s older and smarter now. She can totally pull this off.
How hard can it be? Right? Right?

This book was rather baw. It has all these issues in it Homophobia, bullying, child abuse, spouse abuse, drug addiction, grief and the mention of a creepy sexual experience. I did not care about any of these as I did not care for any of the characters. Which is quite the fault for contemporary romance, it's not like it's fantasy or something plot driven. You shouldn't really care about the characters. Frankly, there all could have dropped dead and it would have just been something that happened.

Also why is every punishment being banned from sports. Are American schools really that dumb? Very convenient that everyone that needs punishing takes a sport very serious.

It was just a very what was the point? I was hoping for something more than the romance. You did have some friendship action going on but it was rather stereotypical. I just no. I'm not actually sure now why I wanted to read this book, it weird I really can't remember.

It just seem all unlikely, the author was just shoving issues into the book. I get the whole "Trying to show that you don't really know what going on with other people and why they do the things they do" but it didn't feel real.

I didn't get the ending, why the hell did no one just tell the police the truth?

Basically no one learned or gained anything. I gave it the baw rating of 2/5 stars and recommend it to someone who has yet to go High School so that would mean preteens over here and likes that sort of thing.

DoctorVisual

Once again it is Saturday, but this Saturday is not like all the other Saturdays. This Saturday has two very important things happening. Today has the Doctor Who finale and EUROVISION!!!

God, how many times did I say Saturday in that opening paragraph. So yes, today we have the grief of Doctor Who finale, I imagine it will be heartbreaking and then we have joy of EUROVISION!!! Maybe that should be the other way about.

Okay, that going to get tedious, so I'll stop writing Eurovision in capital letters and with exclamation marks. With Doctor who all time wimy, heart breaks are repeated. Both are rather colourful, camp, involve stripping (Matt Smith walks around in a towl and so on) and disturbing at times. Eurovision is politics, pop and bad singing.

Having just watched Doctor who, The  Name of the Doctor. It played out how I expected with the whole name thing, it was heartbreaking and I was laughing with madness or grief at the end. Can never just tell with Doctor Who, probably both. Though, I did I thought it was anti-climatic. I think the Fandom might be in tears though right now as it petty clear we won't be seeing a certain character again.

Eurovision Thoughs, (writing it as I watch):
  • Butterflies, how original. My mum would love this.
  • Okay, rewriting stories. How Doctor Who of EV.
  • Sorry, it called we write the story. Still DW all the way. I might the Doctor loves Eurovision
  • The flag thing is a bit weird, but it is kinda nice to see all the contestants at once.Though, very long and Olympicly. But honestly this is close as we get to the Olympics in terms of singing and entertainment.
  • The nice thing with Sweden is that they can handle English well and don't murder it. So hopefully, it won't get weird.
  • The Australia joke was good one.
  • Why can't we vote with Apps or texts?
  • I like the Butterflies country flag.
  1. France: Oh, sexy hand rubbing. I mean rubbing ones hands against ones bodies sexily. Typical theme of bitter love betrayed and I'm going to get you. "I'm going to give you hell". I didn't like the song, its rocky but shit. The tune was boring and the lyrics were repetitive shallow shit.
  2. Lithuania: Oh, I like this one. Kinda The Killers or Coldplay but not as good and one guy. Shame he separated from Hetero (Try and not to laugh). I love the music, singing was good but the lyrics were bit shit.
  3. Moldova: And the cliché lyrics keep coming. I don't think she could actually move in that dress. The dances must help her one and off. Oh, projections on the dress and making it grow. How Capitol of them.
  4. Finland: Gay kissing times, Turkey ain't show Eurovision because of it. Fuck them, we knew they were bastards already. I like Gramham Norton comment "If girls kissing offends you, grow up." Okay, shallow but rather fun. Though, I don't get why she doesn't just ask him. It also doesn't sound like she stole it off someone else. I'm not sure I would go with a veil that big or that dress if I was going to get married, and I don't love the baimaids dresses. The kiss was rather tasteful. Oh, apparently, we should expect to see more of her.
  5. Spain: Bagpipes, since when Spain. Though, they have got someone who can actually play them. Good sign. Oh, my god I think she singing about the Doctor. Is doctor who popular in Spain? It sounds very summery, sort song you expect to hear in the soundtrack of summer love moving. Probably something with a road trip in it.
  6. Belgium: Love Kills, yes. Yes it does. Sounds like he's losing his voice. Oh, my god girls growing out of his back. Dancing is terrible and weird. I can't really understand him (singing in English BTW) but I think that might be his voice. He very One Directiony and typical boyband material. Cute backup one that almost never has a solo. Song Forgettable, though respective chorus.
  7. Estonia: I doubt the black and while thing really works in the Arena. I like the song, my favourite so far. Pregrate lady is good. Very simple and past and life going on.
  8. Belarus:  Europeany and lets get drunk. Party and have sex. That the themes basically and beautiful people. She probably very up herself. No, boring cliché with sound. She might win as Eurovision loves this shit. Cha-Cha, get lost. Yes, she does love herself going with that kiss at the end and moving arms out to the audience saying "Thank you".
  9. Malta: Ukulele, Oh, he's a Doctor, that good knowledge to have in case if we need a Doctor in the house (I bet you were expecting Doctor Who Joke, weren't you?). Sweet and simple staging. Just him wandering the stage with the band and back singers. I like the lyrics being behind him in lips (sorry, that just the general shape of the backing scenes).
  10. Russia: Sounds like that song that's in Eurovision every year. With big balloons. Peace and love, we can do anything basically. Uplifting and such. They threw orange balls of light at the audience. Not sure why. It probably do well.
  11. Germany: Apparently sounds like last years winning song, to be honest I don't remember last year's winner, just that I wasn't that aford of it. Clichés about love and musics. With girl standing on metel stairs. "We're young and the world is ours" and so on.
  12. Armenia: Oh, its about War. Yeah, Eurovision politics are really band and ain't there. Very 90s rock. It reminds of one of those other peace songs by American. "Someday we're break the wall" I thought we did. I actually it might be the 80s I'm thinking of. The leadsinger reminds me of Russia Band but less dark. Fire is very loved in Eurovision.
  •  I liked the short, amusing not laugh out loud. Lots of gay jokes. We all know the gays love Eurovisions. Sweden have done a good job.
13. The Netherlands: Poor Netherlands, ten years since being in the final, that probably be Britain if weren't in the Big five. Boring and cliché deepness. I wonder if I could get to the bathroom and back before the next song. Also birds can fly. At least she can sing, but it very boring. Where's the crazy Eurovison?
14. Romania: YOLO. Oh my god, here's the crazy. He can't sing and weird red people with giant sheet thing stage. I think Doctor Who Writers must get some of their ideas from Eurovision.  Also slightly suicide in theme.
15. United Kingdom: Oh my god, I forgot my brooze. Thanks for remind me Graham. I think this is very Eurovision. Thankfully, true to Britain hopes to winning. I wish could have just I need a Hero. I love that song, and just her in generally. Though, its bit weird that we keep sending people who out of their prim of fame. She still brilliant. Simple and tastefully. We should be pound of ourselves, even if come in last place.
16. Sweden: Its another One Direction want to be, with weird dancing going on. I don't think Sweden really want to host it again next year anyway. I think he might be 30 year old trying to be a teenager. He standing on this weird red thing. Was red the secret theme colour?
17. Hungary: He is in love with wolfgirl or he allowed his child to be raised by wolves which is bad parenting. Yay, I'm petty sure its a romantic baby. Its cute and sweet with slightly scaring illustration behind him. I like this song, but its not the sort of thing to do well.
18. Denmark: Apparently the favourite. Its a peace song, and possible love. Only teardrops. Its not only to Moffat, its what he lives on.  Another reference just by having that title to Doctor Who. Drums and hippie dress.
19. Iceland:  Iceland's butterfly looks very like Britain's. Its Jesus, actually it Iceland so he clearly a Viking. I like him, he can sing and its a good ballad.
20. Azerbaijan: I've started drinking. I thought he was sing in his native language but no that English. Okay, the singer sanding on a upside down man is weird. Oh, he might to be his reflection I think. Or ducking the box. Oh, now they killing him with paper love hearts. He's petty and can sort of sing. He'll do well,
20. Greece: Alcohol is Free, we all wish Greece.  It very Greek sounding. It about alcohol and sea things. A sea of whisky, would be found in European if anyway. I like this song, it rather fun song. Though, it is a bit weird that Main string is so much older than the band.  Dancing is fun. Its fun. Its my favourite, but it won't win. Though, Greece probably praying it won't. Oh, maybe if it does, they'll ask Britain to host it.  Probably, the only way we're have it again any time soon.
21. Ukraine: She looks Celine Dion. Okay, it bit weird. She standing on a rock  in mermaid dress (the style, she doesn't have a tale). Oh, she mention butterflies. Gravity is surprising common theme among Eurovision.
22. Italy: Apparently very big in Italy. You know if Britain sent one of our big stars we'd be shoe in to do well. But we secretly don't want to. Though, the Original country have been doing well the past few years.  Oh, Italy actually entry. Its good, but  it literally just him standing there singing in Italian. Bit boring, but he is good.
23. Norway: I have soft spot for Norway, they're my back up country for some reason. They're a island, I like Islands. Oh, fuck its dupstep shit. Its just her singing with this weird arse drum. Its okay actually, I just don't love it. I don't think it'll do that well. Is it just me or has Eurovision been very boring this year.
24. Georgia: I wonder how many Eurovision songs have had waterfalls in them. Sea of dreams. So cliché. Duet about love, oh well we need one don't we? Oh, my god this is the Lizzy McGuire movie.
25. Ireland: Oh no, it almost over. Only love survives, that's cliché and wrong. Hate does to and viruses.  Oh, topless tattooed men with Irish drums. That bound to get them some points considering the Gays and women. Though, sadly the song is shit and you want to punch the actual singer.  Probably have good chance.
  • Oh, Camraman in Madonna boobs. How very amusing.
  • Who would vote over Twenty times anyway?
  • I think Spain might be my favourite, after Greece obviously.  Or maybe Hunger and Iceland are my favourites. Denmark are good too. Who fuck knows or cares?
  • Oh, no. I went Downstairs for more alcohol and miss the start vote counting show.  Oh well, its just the last year's winner and I hate her anyway. I do not like dance much.
  • I now have my cat with me watching with me?
  • It fun seeing the things only for Britain. Bonnie Taylor segment I mean.
  • Got to say its rather weird that they only have one host, but I like.
  • Interval show is funny, I like in comparison to those giant displays that other countries tend to have. Oh, this totallt makes up for the lack of crazy in the contestants.
  • Gay kissings, I like the fact that they hasn't been any hetero kissing but girl on girl and boy on boy. Yay, Gay Marriage.
  • I like this, but I don't think all Euro-watchers will like it or get it.
  • Oh, history lesson. Drag Queen joke.
  • Graham Norton does a lovely job. Though, still miss Terry Wogan.
  • What if it was a Four tide, would it be fight to the death then?
  • Who doesn't love a Abba cover? We can all sing along without shame. The winner takes it all is bit of obvious choice though.
  • God, I'm going to be singing for weeks now. I don't actually see how that's any different from normal.
  • I think Greece should start praying now.
  • Yay, we've got one point so no zero points for us.
  • Thanks Romania for the Three points. Yay, we have four points. 12 points from somewhere would be nice, maybe Ireland, probably not.
  • My sib and I are both drinking by ourself while watching Eurovision.
  • It awkward when the Points people sing at us. I also hate it when they try for conversations with the audience and the host.
  • Four points from Spain. Whoop. Beating Ireland.
  • God, stop saying hashtag, you fucking loser.
  • With 5 points from Malta, we have beat last year with 13 points.
  • 7 points from Ireland, why can't our other neighbours vote for us? Like when we're not shit.
  • So with a 23 point, we've came in 17th place. We have pride, though it kinda shocking Finland didn't do better. In my opinion, it was better song than Denmark. Denmark was alright song, but I wasn't expecting it to actually win. Not shocked Ireland came last.
  • So Eurovision once again remains it confusing self and the UK only really stays to bitch about it.
So that Eurovision over till next year and Doctor Who till Noverber. This probably the longest post I've ever had which probably show how much geek I am. See ya till next year or more likely next week.

Book Review: Dead Romantic by C.J. Skuse

Frankly, this book isn't going to win any awards for being of great literature value. It basically, a reworking of Frankenstein into a modern setting and shallow values.
Stitching dead bodies:try wool

Camille wants to find the perfect boy, with an athlete's body and a poet's brain. But when she's mocked at a college party, she kows there isn't a boy alive who'll ever measure up. Enter Zoe, her brilliant but strange best friend, who takes biology homework to a whole new level. She can create Camille's dream boy, Frankenstein-stylee. But can she make him love her?

Camile has loved anything dead and has kept dead things as pets her whole childhood (including her ran over cat). Camile meets a mysterious girl, Zoe in Graveyard filling in a grave and becomes obsessed with her(with brief thoughts of homosexuality). Camile actually switches subjects to be in the same class as the girl.

Turns out Zoe is collecting body parts, in attempt to make a boy and restore her father shattered reputation. Camile decides to help, mainly because she needs a date to the college Halloween party to make that shallow boy who dating her ex (apparently)best friend, jealous. Because who doesn't love a pig who offers to take your (and every girls' in college) virginity to get it over with.

Camile refers to the Experiment as the Dead Sexy Boy and so her annoyances really begins. Camile isn't the cleverest person but sometimes this got really unbelievable. I mean, Camile is smart enough to have passed her GSES however, claims not to know that a crowbar is an object, and not just the verb of "Crowbarring". I'm petty sure she says the same thing two other times (obviously about other words) and definitely within 20 pages says it again. We get it pretty clearly that Camile is the local idiot that likes dead things.

At one point, Camile thinks Zoe has started to kill people for parts when one of the friends she abandons at the beginning of the books goes missing with her boyfriend, for no real reason. Also she does nothing about this suspicion anyway.

Oh, yeah this is a romance, right? I think its meant to be... The romance is typical and boring. Frankly (I'm really loving that word in this review) in terms of relationships, Zoe and Camile was most interesting but I don't think either like each other that much. Camile loves dead things, Zoe makes dead things alive, they are the perfect pair.

To sum up its a good book for a light read. It was funny at points and tried too hard at others. The ending was bit too cliffhangie( also very cliché) for something that doesn't deserve a sequel. It bit too unbelievable and the characters got annoying. I enjoyed it, brief boredom aside that made me skim through the last chapters before going back and finishing it properly. I did enjoy it, but that's about it. The idea was overdone, the characters don't learn anything, repeating habits (except on a bigger scale). Read it if you're not in the mood to think too much or get too emotionally invested.

BB:HALLOWEEN!!!

Hi, since Halloween is such a special occasion to me and I feel I've almost negated it on here, I thought it deserved a Bonus Blog (it also happens to be Wednesday, possibly thinking of posting regular posts on Wednesday, if it happens it'll be next year). My last one was actually high quality, which is a rarity with my Sat posts, so I shall try to continue the trend.

Inspired by my recent discovery of Creepypasta.com. I can not for the life of me actually remember how I stumbed on to it. It was possibly Youtube, but that doesn't sit right with me. Oh, spooky. By the way, you can find me as PhoenixAngel on it, only in the comments for the moment. Also stay away from the uncategorised section if its dark outside or on alone and like me have too active imagination sometimes. Though, still alive at the moment.

I thought I do my hand at scary story for you all. I would just like to say that it been a while and I want to get back in the swing of these since my NaNoWriMo is horror related. Not telling till Saturday.

Story:

It was Halloween and April was stuck inside. She had the intention of trick treating, but this year the monster had brought a thunderstorm with them. It probably creating the most cliche possible setting for a horror story, April was just waiting for the power to go to out. It thankfully didn't.

Still April found herself staring out into the rain filled street empty of trick or treaters. Any of other night it would be a normal sight, this night it was extremely sad one for April. The only sign of what occasion it was, was the drowned out pumpkins and decorations that had been put out early. She gave a side glance at the pumpkin that shared the window with her. It crookly ginned at her, she still need more practice at craving them. But it was alright for her second attempt, she had only been allowed to crave her own lantern since the last Halloween.

Her mother hadn't trusted with her knife till the ripe age of 13. Her age was actually the main reason that the lack of Halloween activity saddened her. She was so close from leaving the age of acceptable trick or treating, well until she had kids of her own which should be a long time away. She really only had two more years until everyone would just make due with parties.

Halloween falling on a school night had mean all the parties had been. It kinda annoyed April that no one really made a proper effect to celebrate on Halloween unless its actually date fell on Friday or Saturday. She had though.

She sat wearing her costume, semi-concious of not rubbing her white make-up off. She had choosen to go that year as a bloody ghost as it was the only horror creature she had never been. She began to stare at the flashes of light, just willing the rain to turn off before its too late. It was half-past-seven and if it didn't turn off soon then they're would be no point going out. April sighed loudly.

"April, why don't you just eat our trick or treat sweets?" said April mother while watching the TV.
That was another thing that depressed April, they was not a decent horror film on. The only one she had found in the listing was one she seen, and it had been so crap that it wasn't even funny. She could go watch all the Cartoon specials but she had seen them all too and just didn't feel like it. She would rather watch the nightmare of a Halloween.

"Its not the same," April muttered. The joy of Halloween sweets was earning them by walking to all the houses in the local area, performing the trick of your choice and then sorting your haul to see what you got.

April knew exactly what they had in terms of candy, just the multi-packets and plain fruit. What April wanted was tabit or chocolate apple. Not toffee ones, they just hurt her teeth. Only the homemade was had good quality apples, the supermarket ones always just the bad ones. If she had known that there was going to be a storm, she might have tried making her own. Yet, she had no cooking chocolate in the house and the apples were bit rotten.

"Why don't you go read or something?"

"Good idea," April sounding almost cheerfully, before exiting the room. The night was about to get Only to come straight back with collection of Classic horror stories and took her place back at the livingroom window. April sat there very still reading, if anyone had past the window they would have thought that April was just a very realisic decoration and of course get a shock when the reading ghost turned the page of its book.

As tempting as is to end the story here, as a happy tale of how written horror saved the night. This is not where its ends otherwise itself would not be a work of horror.

As April was reading the thunder stopped, but not the rain. There would be no going out at all. April was no longer sadden by this, as she was lost in the haunting of an old mansion that had its inhabits spooked to the cores. She was interrupt with the flash of light outside before lights inside disappeared.

"Mum," April shouted in her presumption that her mother had turned the light off in exiting. April had been so in glossed that she didn't realised that TV had went off too. She turned back to the empty room as the lights flicked back on. Her mother must have wander off during an ad.

April look back at the street, it was in complete darkness. The street lamps were out. April was confused by this as the street lamps were meant to have a back-up generator.

As she scanned her neighbours windows for their power status. She noticed a figure walking along the street, she was shocked by this. 'You have be a nutter to walk in that,' she thought to herself. She continue to watch the hooded figure as it got closer to her house. Getting bored of their slow pace, she went back to her book, but the words seem bury now and she just couldn't make them out.

She rubbed her eyes and stood up from the window. She was probably just tired and going blind in her old age. She figured she probably tell her mother about it though. April was about to walk out the door when she heard a knock at the door. She was tempted to ignore it, but decided to answer thinking it would be petty important to be out this weather.

The front door was in off side bit of the livingroom, it was cold and dark as the radiator was never switched on. April flicked the light on, but they refuse to come on. April felt a swell of panic inside her, she ignored it. She opened the door before she had the chance to freak out.

The door open revealed, a small boy dressed in black at the door.

"Trick or Treat," he whispered to the door. April stood and stared at the lone boy. His eyes and hair were covered by a hood. The skin visuable was pale white. April couldn't tell if it was make-up or from the cold.

"Do your parents know your out?" April ask sweetly. She figured the boy must have sneaked out, she had to admire his spirt for that, but he only six years and his parents must be worried about him. It might have been the wrong question to ask but too late.

The boy just smiled at April and said

"They're know where I am."

April bit her lip.

"I'm sorry, but I don't we have any sweets," Her brother had probably made off with them by now and were in the back of the house. It didn't seem right to leave the boy alone even for a second, however she didn't want to invite him in. "I don't think you're going to have much luck tonight. I think most people gave up with the rain."

"You're wrong, I'm sure I'll get my treat," the boy said in still a low voice. "Don't you want to go trick or treating?" He ask and held up his hand to April.

She look into the pale pam. She did want to go trick or treating. It suddenly felt like her last chance, as though there wouldn't be another Halloween...for her.

She took the boy's hand and went out with him. That was April's last Halloween. Her mother discovered her daughter's electrified body lying at the window. The thunder had turn to lighting and April had just been too close to the socket that was right to the window when it hit the house.

Though her neighbours did swear they gave sweets to a ghost that Hallows Eve.

The End

Oh, by the bye, I'm going as Death this year. Merry Halloween.

Blood Chest (The possible start of a Novel)

Hi, you lot, so I haven't brought anymore books this week, which is meant to be a good thing. Though, I did end up getting books from the library yesterday but that no big deal since they're kid books (so short) and I've already read one. You know I've start to confuse what I've said on my blog and what I've said in my vlogs/book videos.
A family of pumpkins now live in my room.

So as you know holidays mean I've done nothing or nothing interesting to talk about. But I did write something this week and I'm thinking of maybe using it as the basis of my NaNoWriMo novel. Not sure though yet, I shall think about as well as figuring out what my costume going to be this year. Vampire is tempting as always, maybe I just be a heart broke ghost. We're see...

Working Title: Blood Chest (Silent Beauty)

I bite my lip, I stare at the front of the class not at all listening to what the teacher is saying. I begin to bite harder and keep adding pressure till I taste the blood drip into my mouth. I lesser the pressure, but keep my teeth where they are, keeping the wound wet.  I eventually let go when the bell rings. The blood begins to heavily flow now my chin. I ignore it. I pack up the paper and the book of the month into my bag, being carefully with neither. I walk up and go to leave with everyone when the teacher says my name.

I don’t remember his name; I’ve been referring to him as Mr English in my head since the start of the year.  I actually think he’s too young to be married, but master for whatever reason went out style for boys over the age of twelve. I turn around leaving my face bank. The blood drips now on to my chest at this point. I still don’t whip it away.

He stares at me shocked. Has he never saw blood before?

“Your lip is bleeding.” He’s says dumbly.

“I know,” I say only moving my lips in response. He’s clearly confounded by my lack of action. The blood continues to drip down. He follows red drop from my chin to my chest, where continues down under my top.  He jumps a little when he realise where he looking at. He was only doing out of instinct to follow movement. He’s not a prev like Mr Music.

“What was it you’re wanted to talk to be about?” I ask blandly. He jumps again; I fight the urge to smirk. I don’t why, but I can unnerve teacher petty easily and for whatever realise I get a small pleasure from it. I know that’s bad thing, but I can’t help who I am.

“It’s about your essay.” Oh, yeah that. I now notice it in his hands.

“It’s very good. However,” O, big word uni boy.  Is “but” too good for ya? I’m tempt to say this but don’t for obvious reasons. “You can’t just write on whatever book you want. It’s important that you stick to the class book, you need to practice for your exam…” This is where I stop listening, I hear exam and I switch off.

He’s stopped and waiting for a response.  I just look at him and bite my lip, restarting the now dry wound.

“Stop that.”

I scape my teeth across my lip before letting go; the blood starts down my chin again.

“Here,” He says holding out a tissue to me. I just shake my head at it. “Please.”

“It won’t happen again, I just felt writing about something more interesting in comparison to book I’ve already read six times”

“You’re only need to read it twice.”

“How many times have you read it?” I ask doing my best to keep my voice toneless. He shakes his head at me.

“That’s not really the point.” We stand, him awkwardly, in silence.

“May I go now, sir?” I drag the sir out.

“Yes, no,” he says muddily. “You’re a good thinker, but a horrible student…”

“Oh please,” I say interrupting. “You’re not going to do the cliché inspiring English teacher thing, are you?” He looks shocked. “Here how it’s going to work, you leave me alone and I’ll get an A in my exam.”

He looks annoyed now.

“I’m your teacher…”

“I’m just a candidate. No one actually cares as long as I don’t drag the school down with me. It’s your job to prevent me from doing this; if I ain’t failing then you have nothing to worry about. Now if you’re done, I have a lunch to read through.”

I walk out the room without waiting for a response. I know there’s a good chance that I might get into serious trouble. I don’t really care. I knew I was asking for trouble with that essay but he gave us that same question three times already.  I wrote it to amuse myself and never did the real one. So I just handed it in. I suppose, I could have told him I handed in the wrong essay the next day…I just didn’t care that much.
I feel eyes at the back of me as I rush down the hall. I snap back to see a boy staring at me.

“What are you looking at?” Original I know. He looks me up and down.

“A vampire by the looks of it,” he says smugly.  I glare at him before continuing my path outside. I bang out the door. There only few people about, I run around to behind the building before anyone can fake interest to why my face is covered in blood.

I dump myself on the brick wall that doubles as a bench. I exhale my frustration into the empty air around me. I take in one more breath before I take out the book I’m currently reading out of my bag. I’m soon lost in the life or death problems of the protagonist. It’s actually kinda of shallow compared to the last in the series. The romance is such a major feature in this one. I easily bore of romances in books or any media; at least it isn’t a triangle.

I realise there someone near me when I smell cigarette smoke. I look up at the future cancer patient.  It’s vamp boy. He is leaning against the building staring at me, puffing smoke in my direction.

“Do you mind?”

“Not at all,” He says smugly. His whole appearance said smug. His clothes were dark, but proper and expensive. Not something he cared much about if his battered converses were anything to go by. I scuff my fake ones against the wall. His face was that brand type of handsome, that he had tried to disguise with a lip piercing and obviously fake black hair.  Going by the fag in his mouth he was rebelling against his proper and rich parents.

“Go away Emo,” I say meaning it as an insult. He ignores me and sits next to be on the wall. I begin to cough. The only thing that sets off my asthma is smoke. Besides that I only have weaken lungs from childhood infection.

“Want a puff?” he asks smirking, putting the fag in front of my face.

“Sure,” I say grabbing it, throwing on the ground and use my boot to grind it against the tarmark.

“It okay, you can have the rest of it.” I give him a death glare before returning to my book. He begins to read it at my shoulder. He actually has the nerve to put his head on me. I hit him with the book, it’s a shame it’s only a paper back, before getting up.

I’m tempted to just leave, but this is my place and this prev had followed me here. I wasn’t fleeing my territory.

“Do you normally stalk girls?”

“Only the petty vamp ones.”

“Why, do you do have a deathwish?”

He chuckles.

“You know most girls would take the compliment?”

“Of being called mythical monster?”

“No, of being called pretty.”  I didn’t. Petty or “beautiful” always seemed like an insult to me. My mother was always telling me how pretty I was if only I would make an affect or her and others would say it when something had gone wrong.  I knew I wasn’t ugly, but I didn’t really see why it matter either way. To me it was being clever (in some way) that mattered. I didn’t like this boy at all.

“Well, the girls you know ain’t that great.” I say sitting farer down the wall from him and begin to read again.

“So is there a reason why you’re walking around as though you’ve bite someone?” He asked after a while. I put my earphones in and put my music loud enough for him to hear also. He keeps talking. I ignored his words and his eyes for the rest of lunch.

I get up as soon as the bell rings. I have to walk past him to get to my next class. As I do so, he grabs me around my hips. I hit with the book and push him off. Didn’t he understand personal space? He pulls my earphones out.

“I said can tell me where Mrs Smiths’ room is.” It’s an acceptable question to ask if he’s new, which I realise he obviously is if he spends his lunch annoying strangers. I really don’t know anyone in school so I would have no clue.

“What’s the number?” I only knew the heads by their names, everyone else was room number and subject.

“113” he says not sounding smug for the first time. Damn that my classroom.

“Just play stalker,” I say as I turned around and leave him on the wall. He doesn’t follow me at first and then I hear his steps. Once he catches up with me, he starts asking stupid questions like what’s my name and I am seriously going to class like that. He informs me his name Alexander Laviat. Only then do I respond with

“Why should I care?” I say trying to make it clear that he’s wasting his time. He smiles at me.

“Because I’m a vampire hunter.” I’m tempted to hit him again, but I just roll my eyes. He probably piss himself if he ever meets a vampire. Trust me, I’ve met several. They’re never “nice” to mortals of any kind.
I try to lose him in the correct hall and slip into Room 113 without him.

“Lila, what happened to your petty face?” Mrs History exclaims upon seeing me. I ignore her and go to my place in the back. She continues to fuss about the blood, but I just my shake head at her. Refusing to say a word, I’ve already said too many today.  She only stops when a confused, but somehow still smug Alexander wanders into the room. He sees me and smirks. Mrs History finally goes and fusses with him.

When he sits next to me, I kick him hard under the table so he knows his mistake. He just continues to smirk.
