Book Review: Paradise by Joanna Nadin

My secret is that I enjoy writing deaths of beloved characters.

Everybody has a secret.

When Billie inherits her grandmother's house, it's a fairytale come true. Maybe She can find the father she's never met. But moving back to her mum's childhood home dredges up secrets- and Billie soon discovers that people may die, but the past lives forever.

I have no strong feelings towards this book. It was aright. It is something I would call a light read (though does involves dark themes). Its a bit too heavy with the whole...

I really like layout of the book, the chapters switch between Billie's point of view of the present and the point of view of a family member of the past. While this book is about Billie, it more about how Billie came to be and the family dynamics that Billie's mum, Het grew up with and explains why she the way she is partly.

Billie's mum does annoy me sometimes. Just her actions, what she puts Billie and Finn through,  but that's probably intentional. She obviously surfing from some sort of mental illness, even if its straight up depression. She just really selfish like they no consideration for her kids, even though she is mentally ill they should have been some of glimpse of actually caring about her kids. Its all about her.

There three romances in this book, the only one I actually care for is the one that it would be too much of a spoiler to talk about. There others just seemed like replacements for actually liking ones family.

I do like the ending, its leaves with hope that Billie will gain something like what she wanted to from  moving there.

Overall, I gave this book 3/5 stars for the terrible post names.

Thoughts of Summer and current Reading Slump

Without Doctor Who, Saturday has turned into just another day. If I was still at school then it wouldn't be so. Instead of just college which I unsuccessfully managed to get out of bed for. Speaking of depressing places of education, I rather looking forward to summer break. Expect this year I won't actually have a summer break because I'm not going to any form of education after summer.

I'm definitely not going to college next year as this course decision was mistake. Lesson don't do something just because it means you don't have to change location. Especially, if you've already had problems with similar subjects. Damn moodborads.

The main reason I want a summer break is that I want to reorganise my room: my bookshelves, my clothes location, my life.

I think the mess of my room as I keep thinking about how I wish I could just take care of it and still remains to be in this state no matter how many times I say I'll tidy it part of it tomorrow when I have time. I know I will eventually actually do it one of these "tomorrow"s but till then I procrastinate about whilst thinking. I know I'm actually more likely to do during a no set schedule time as I'll be able to do it in the middle of the night with the knowledge I can sleep the day away. The pain of being a night owl in world ran by people that like the sun.

I'm still having a hard time actually reading, I think might be that I'm not spending as much time on buses which I've got in the habit of doing most of my reading. I mean I was reading three books a week before I started college. Maybe it because I'm just not able to wander my books as easily anymore or I've just got to fond of lying in my bed whist pondering how "Remus Lupin and Sirius Black first started to have sexual encounters with each other" and many other such important matters.

I did actually only start reading on Thursday, the day that usually means no more college for that week. I suppose on Monday I randomly grabbed 'Cinder' by Marissa Meyer, a book I wasn't really in the mood for reading. I had thoughts of reading 'Warm Bodies' by

Depressing Scenes at Supermarket

I think I might have seen the most depressing thing I've ever seen in real life last Tuesday. I was in Tesco (I know already quite depressing) doing what most people do in Tesco when I saw a group of primary school kids. At first, I just thought that it was just a health lesson that was trying to hard to be fun or something. No, it was much worse than that. I later saw the same group on the checkouts.

They had took, I'm going to say Seven years old, to learn out to operate a cash register. Like are things that bad where someone would think its a good idea to give Primary kids work experince. Here kids, here where you're be working in ten years, but don't worry as they're probably get rid of checksout once the old biddies die off so like two of you wandering around the self-checkouts making sure people don't steal or buy alchoal underage. The rest of yous are will restock the shelves or be unemployed.

Okay, there nothing wrong with working in supermarket, its an essiental job. And most Uni/college students tend to get those sort of jobs while making their way through their courses. It just why the hell does a Primary school kid need to know how to use a real checkout?

At that age they should still be wanting to be impossibly or incredbuially unlikely things like being a cat or Astronaut. Sometimes I still envy the life of a dog (though I was never one of those kids that wanted to be another species). I don't know, maybe they trying to the kids that they're nothing wrong with be a checkout worker. However, they're under ten, this is going to be some weird thing they did while they were in Primary, not a life lesson.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this and it is just a really bad field trip.

My Chem go Bye Bye

I woke today to some horrid news. My chemical Romance was no more. There had broke up. I have yet to find an actual answer to the reason why. My best friend was the one to informed me of this, by her status on facebook and message me with "MACE ARGH!" So distested was she and later me that spelling went out the window with the chances of ever seeing them live again.

Strangely I'm not shocked. Yes, disappointed. I feel I should probably be shocked and devastated. There was talk of album being released this year. Obviously not happening now. I was looking forward to seeing them in concert again. Even though I saw before, I immediately wanted to see them again afterwards.

Thankfully, that we did see them though. My best friend and I will always have that shared memory of MCR rocking MENA. In fact, that concert was in March right before the Easter Holidays two years ago. I guess my MCR memories will always be in March.

I would like to know why they've decided to call it quits. I just like there to be reason behind things, and I want to know the answer to everything that effects me. Unrealistic but I like answers.

It just another stab to the fact that in 7 weeks time I'll no longer be a teenager. MCR have made up a big pact of my Teenhood. There have been the soundtrack to some of the best and worse times in my short life. I'll always remember listening to them on the bus on the way to school (rare to be actually to go to school that way) or on my way home relieved that I've survived another day. Welcome to the Black Parade playing at the school dance, The Black Parade stand outside Woolworths before it disappeared. I still hear as "This is How I Disappear" when I walk though the turn to my house from the main road. The trees there just trigger it.  There also the time I order a crap load of stuff from official website and got it shipped all the way from America. I walked through the snow/ice to my Grandma's to collect the package. That sadly excited for the contents. Frankly, My Chem is the band I spent the most money on ever. A love for MCR is something I share with my best friend and there lot other crap that only I probably care about.

I wouldn't say My Chemical Romance saved my life. That would just be too dramatic.

There were just there when I was down or even when I want to jump around like a fool. Their music made me feel better a lot of times. The whole you're not alone really helps when you're lonely teen who struggles to communicate.

So Farewell My Chemical Romance (because we gonna kid on there actually a chance one of them might read this). Thanks for all the good times and your music. It sad you won't make any more or ever play again but we're always have the albums and the memories.

So I'm off to sing "Teenagers" while I'm still one of them. Probably end up singing "The Kids of Yesterday". Lets all just take some solace in Fall Out Boy being back together. It not much.

The Death of the Wander Shop (His Master's Voice leaving the High Street)

So I went to my local HVM yesterday. Guess what? Its shutting down. Frankly, its like all the HVM are shutting to me without the spoilers (Remember Woolworths?)

I actually went to the Grand Opening of my local HVM. I hadn't actually moved down here yet, but Son of Dork were going to being doing a signing. For those who do not remember the short life of said band. It had James from Busted in it, which was why we went to the signing. My sib just loved Busted (I did too, but she was the bigger fan) and had soft spot for James. Also that one album was petty good, in the cheesy rock sense (Oh, yes there such a thing as Cheesy Rock, its like pop ones but with guitars, real drums and possible parental advisory warnings).

It will have only been there Eight years and it probably be empty for two years if its like Wooworths (seriously there's one is same place as HMV was empty that long and the one nearest me once again empty after a brief fring with Pound King). I felt rather depress walking about it, probably for the last time. The realisation that my kids will never see a music store, just full of CDs, and dvd and odd books. No random merch. Fucking Tesco Extra is probably the closest they've ever get while being followed by security horse (That's my theory of the near future). I really am going to miss HMV, mainly for the aimless wandering about. I guess with the lost of Woolworths and HMV, the wanderer shops are gone.

THE RECESSION KILL MY CHILDHOOD. Well, the two stores that  heavily featured in it.

Though even with being sad over the situation, didn't stop us joking about it. Such jokes/ideas as entering the store with a dogs size coffin; asking to pre-order a game; trying to use my loyalty card and several others that no longer come to mind. I guess I will never get to complain about Paramore being in the Metal section.

I know it was petty obvious that HMV couldn't last, it and Woolworths were the Internet store before it took off. Everything they sell can be sold over the internet easily and other issues the music industrial is having with lack of people actually paying for music.

So in summary its sad that HVM is struggling (and soon to be gone for me), its probably inevnerable for it and its likes to disappear from the High Street. Now there's only supermarkets that sell CD and dvd. *sigh*
